Two Powerful Techniques To Alleviate Depression

Medical and mental health counseling are important for anyone suffering from depression. The Law of Attraction and meridian tapping are other avenues for alleviating depression.

The easiest way to battle depressing thoughts when they first occur is to use a time-tested Law of Attraction exercise - gratitude lists. Even when you are horribly depressed you'll be able to easily find something that is actually going well. This exercise takes no more than a few minutes of focusing powerfully on that one thing that is going well in your life right now. Perhaps it's something as simple as "I'm grateful I got to work on time even though there was a lot of traffic." At the top of a piece of paper write "Ten Things I am Grateful for Today," then fill in the blank: "I am happy that_________." Once you find one thing that's going well, find another, then another. Soon you'll have a list of ten things that are in your life right now that you're grateful for.

Do this multiple times a day for maximum effectiveness. Reflect on what is happening in your life that is better than depression, something that is positive. Create a list of ten things you appreciate about your life. Label it as such. If you are so entwined with negativity and you cannot come up with anything, create an alternative list where you thank the universe for giving you everything you want even if you don't have it yet. Act and feel as if you do. Thank the universe for uplifting your mood a bit today even if it is not yet uplifted. Thank the universe for the solution to an argument between you and your spouse. This is using the technique of acting "as if" you already have these positive things in your life.

It's not about denying the depression; that's where you are and that's your vibration. But for two or three minutes a day you focus on what is not so terrible. Maybe you love your computer or your pet. Maybe you appreciate that your commute to work is short. You are just looking for something that is better than the terrible depression. Get out of bed. Get off the couch. Write lists.

You can also do meridian tapping to alleviate depression. Sometimes depression can be a symptom of blocked energy channels, and sometimes depressing thoughts are based on long-held emotional baggage, so practicing EFT or other kinds of meridian tapping will likely have a lasting effect. Be careful, though, to get specific with your depression when you do meridian tapping. Saying "I'm depressed" is a vague idea that would be a more powerful phrase if it were more specific. To get specific with your depression, ask yourself where you feel it. If you feel fuzzy in your head then start there. You can say "Even though I'm feeling fuzzy in my head, I accept myself anyway." By pinpointing your personal expression of depression you can reach into your brain and make changes to your energetic system efficiently and effectively.

Start the tapping on the eyebrow, and say, "What if I could feel better in an hour?" Don't force it; just give it the possibility. Then tap on the side of the eye and say, "What if I could feel just a little bit better by tomorrow?" It's a way to unhook yourself from the 24/7 feeling of depression.

Whether you are suffering from a cold or from depression, with meridian tapping you are working with the energy system in your body. You are cleaning out congestion, calming the system, and getting the circulation of energy and electricity and blood going again. Take each symptom that you are suffering from and use that as a target for tapping. If you are frustrated about it, angry with yourself, exhausted, mad at yourself, whatever it is-tap on the emotions and the symptoms.

Depression can be from a chemical imbalance, an emotional focus, or a combination of the two. For some people it's one, for others it's the other; and for everyone else it is in between.
