Working With the Law of Attraction

By Jill Gonzales

The law of attraction is a law that says whatever you direct out into the universe will come back to you. This law can be used for a variety of reasons in the areas of health, relationships, spirituality, finances, and even your career. Using the law of attraction can be easy once you know how to do it. To learn, it is usually best to start with something you would like to increase in your life or a small goal you'd like to accomplish. When you have thought of what you would like to do, it's then time to start.

Anything we want, be it money, fame, security, a lover or partner, or a new adventure, we merely have to think of in a positive way and we will automatically attract it to us. This isn't the same as thinking we want something, or need something. In fact, "need" and "want" are negative thoughts, because they just attract more need and want. We actually bring something to us by not needing and wanting it. That is, we bring it to us by acting as if and living as if we already have all we want. Certainly, this sounds difficult, but what it really means is that we don't focus on what we are lacking. Instead we develop gratitude for what is already there. For instance, if money is what we can't seem to get enough of, we likely focus too much on how little we have, instead of noticing and being grateful when we do have it or have enough of it.

When we are feeling anxious about finances, instead of worrying or saying to ourselves something like, "I never have enough money," or, "I'm tired of being broke," we can change our focus: "I had enough money to pay my rent or mortgage this month, and I am grateful for that. I know I will always have more than enough money for what I need." We can also say, simply, "I don't have to worry about money. I always have more than enough." The latter is a positive affirmation. Using affirmations helps to program our minds to think differently about our situation. By repeating an affirmation like the one above, we help ourselves believe it is true, and, incredibly, it eventually becomes true. It may sound strange, but it really does work. When we tell ourselves we already have something that we wish to have, or when we visualize ourselves having something or doing something, we begin to believe in it, and that belief causes the Universe to help us make it a reality.

There is another tool, called a vision board, which can be used to help the law of attraction work for you. You get a board; it can be cardboard, poster board, or wood. Then, you decorate it with pictures, images, sayings, and anything else that is related to your goal. You then place the vision board in a prominent place in your home or office space. The purpose of this is to have a visual reminder of what you want from life. When you are confronted with images of your goals on a daily basis it can help to solidify what you want out of life.

After you have changed your thought patterns and have begun saying positive statements you should soon begin to notice a change. That's not to say that you can relax in a lawn chair next to the pool day after day and expect to get rich. You need to take action and do your part to help the law work. The law of attraction works from repetitive, positive statements and a change in the way you think and act. The final way in which the law of attraction works is this; you must be thankful for all that you already have. When the universe senses you are thankful for what you have, it will be more willing to send more your way. Regardless of what we would like more of, most of us have plenty to already be thankful about. On a daily basis this is what you need to do: think and say positive statements about your financial situation, make a vision board to help you visualize what your dream looks like (this is not necessary, just a tool to help the process), take action when opportunities present themselves, and be thankful on a daily basis for what you already have. When you put all of these together, you can get amazing results with the law of attraction. If you begin with a smaller goal or desire you will see how it works faster than if you choose a larger goal. Remember to do all of these things daily and soon you will begin to see the law of attraction work for you.
